Birketts Bog Mats

Crane Mats

A heavy-duty timber access mat supplier, Birkett Bogmats, has has made a flying start to the year, sending out 22 loads (around 1200) of its hardwood mats to projects and sites in the first week of January alone!

The bog mats have left Birketts base in West Cumbria and have been sent to destinations including South Wales, Aylesbury, Cambridge, Warrington and Fort William.  They are being used on projects ranging from solar farms to pipeline laying and utilities work.

Birketts has also started the year with a brand new client in the sector of heavy transport, lifting and construction logistics and has held meetings with potential partners wishing to work with a timber mat supplier which is renowned for its customer service.  Working with both companies has been on the wish list of managing director, Juanita Watts, for some time.

The demand may soon lead to new job creation at Birketts, as the family firm starts its 41st year in the timber industry and reinforces its reputation in the energy, infrastructure, engineering and construction sectors.

Juanita says: “We have had a fabulous start to 2015 and the phone just hasn’t stopped ringing.  We are increasingly becoming known as the go-to supplier of timber access mats, not just because we can produce a heavy-duty, reliable product, but also because we are known for providing excellent customer service.

“We put much effort into managing every part of the supply process, from the order of our hardwood bog mats to delivery and all the logistics in between, no matter where in the world our mats travel.  We take the headache out of our customers’ hands and listen to their needs.  We have also introduced best-rate purchase and hire options and offer national rates, regardless of location.  All of these factors are driving demand.”
